Sri Satinath Bhattarcharya received his initial training in music from his father Late Haranath Bhattacharya. He had his 'talim' in Kheyal from a number of musicians like Sri Sripati Nath Chatterjee, Late Arun Bhattacharya of Rabindra Bharati University, Late Pandit Sachin Das Motilal and Sri Madhabendra Nath Kundu, all of whom belonged to Agra Gharana. He is currently learning Kheyal (khyal) from maestro, Sri Kumar Prasad Mukherjee, also an exponent of Agras gharana. 'Dhrupad' and 'Dhamar' are Satinath's favourite.
