Chitram at Tamilnadu Foundation

On May 27, 2006 at Ford Performing Arts Center, Detroit, MI. Description: Chitram is a spectacular musical theatre production staged by Kanniks Kannikeswaran of Cincinnati. Gauri Jog was invited to perform at this elaborate  performance consisting of 30 musicians and dancers.

Classical Dance Festival

On May 20, 2006 at Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple, Aurora, IL. Description: This dance festival was arranged by Balaji Temple. Our school was represented by more than 20 girls. The highlights of this program include Mira Bhajan and a beautiful dance based on a semi classical gaze. The choreography, selection of music and performance by all girls was much appreciated by audience.

Multi Cultural Fair

On April 7, 2006 at Thomas Jefferson’s School, Palatine, IL. Description: This multi cultural event was arranged by school district 15 and India was represented by our school. Our student performed a dance depicting the story of Lord Krishna and Radha.

Shanti

On March 25, 2006 at Aronoff Center for the Arts, Cincinnati, OH. Description: This acclaimed choral multi-media theater production featured a 150 – member choir, a chamber orchestra and an ensemble of Indian instruments. To the packed audience of 2600 our school was invited for a dance fusion with Bharatanatyam. “Shanti” was conceived and created by Kanniks Kannikeswaran, a visionary musician, composer and music educator with several recordings, productions and scores to his credit.

World Dance Festival

On March 19, 2006 at Addison Village Hall, Addison, IL. Description: This was a day long multi-cultural program arranged by Addison village and our school was invited to represent dances from South Asian countries. A group of twelve girls presented three dances representing the cultures in that region. The dancers rendered Kathak and combination of other styles, stimulating an aesthetic experience in the spectators. This was indeed a good opportunity for us to show what the Indian dancing is all about.
